Skytower nightlightA Personal account
Skytower nightlight

Some people think that the Skytower is ugly. I agree that it is a weird piece of metal... but it has grown on me. When I was in hospital, "lights off" was at 9pm and for a while I wasn't sleeping at all. I could have a bedside lamp on, but I was encouraged to turn all the lights off as it would make me sleepy.

Many nights I lay awake in my bed, and the room always seemed too dark. Before I turned the lights off I would go over to the window and leave the curtains open just enough to make sure that I could see the Skytower. Some nights it was lit up with yellow and white lights, other nights with blue and purple stripes. The Skytower was my nightlight.

I had my sixteenth birthday when I was in hospital. I was angry that day. I remember that in the evening I let go of the balloons I received as a present, and watched them float into the sky. I didn't want them. I sat outside looking at the Skytower feeling frustrated. I thought - I would rather be in town with my friends than trapped in here. The Skytower was a place for me that I wanted to be but could not reach yet. My personal nightlight fuelled my hopes for recovery and my urge to get out of hospital.

Thinking about...HERBAL TEAS

Herbal teas are an easy and safe way to chill out or get energised. It's best not to drink too much of one tea though, three cups a day at the most.

CD Review
Natures Best : New Zealand's top 30 songs of all time
This 2 CD compilation includes the most popular New Zealand songs in the 20th century. It includes songs such as Lydia by Fur Patrol, Chains by DLT featuring Che Fu, Nature by Fourmyula, Home Again by Shihad, Sway by Bic Runga, Weather With You by Crowded House and many more. Many of the songs have been on New Zealand television advertisements. Of course, most of these New Zealand songs are highly recognisable and are good for singing along with, or as background music. Recently another Nature's Best has been released showing how popular this album is.
